Mutant Ability
Kitty's mutation is called 'phasing', the ability to pass her entire molecular structure through any type of matter, her body becoming insubstantial. An extension of her mutation, Kitty can detach herself from the Earth's gravity, giving her the power to "walk on air" or levitate. She can phase people and other objects along with her, as well as selective parts of an object.

Whenever she phases through electronic equipment of any sort, she causes it to short circuit. Someday, with a lot of training, she will be able to refine this and allow her to cut of a living being's nervous system as it is electrical in nature. Again, something she won't be able to do for a long time.

As of now, she doesn't have great control over her ability. She's only learned to Phase herself and nothing else, rising as a fear response. She also doesn't know that her mutation disrupts electrical circuitry.

Appearance
Kitty's a petite young woman, weighing only 110lbs. when solid and stands at 5'4". She has dark brown hair, big hazel eyes that are nearly golden brown, with brilliant smile to match. It's hard to describe her without using the word 'adorable', the physical reflection of her personality shining through

Personality:
Kitty is fun and feisty, bouncy and enthusiastic. She's outgoing and naturally curious, rarely the shy sort. By all appearances she's your average eighteen year old, dreamy and soft hearted. Don't let that fool you though, she's extremely brave and is willing to go through any lengths necessary to protect the people she cares about.

Sometimes Kitty has a tendency to be a little reckless in her pursuits, stubborn and willing to go as far as she has to and doesn't think of the damage she inflicts when she gets devoted to something. Given her high intellect, she tries justifies the things she's done, but will admit it when she knows she's wrong, attempt to make amends.

She's lived as a human her entire life, so interacting with mutants that appear different unnerves her. She tries to overcome it, but it's difficult for her. She's been lucky and not all mutants have, a concept she has yet to learn.

History:
In Deerfield Illinois, the quiet suburb of Chicago, Katherine or "Kitty" Pryde was born to Theresa "Terri" and Carmen Pryde. Their marriage was growing to be and unhappy one, and by the time Kitty was sixteen it was on the verge of breaking down. The only thing that really kept them together was for the sake of their only child, but that could only last for so long.

A ballet dancer and general kid, there was one thing that made Kitty more extraordinary than her peers. Her genius level intelligence, especially with computer science. She was taking college courses from the age of thirteen. She loved to dance and kept doing so as a means of interaction with people her own age as well. As her age progressed, so did the pain of her migraines.

Once she hit puberty, she began to suffer chronic migraines. First just a few migraines here and there. Then as time went on they turned so intense she would black out and wake up in different rooms of the house, no memory of how she got there.

Her parents stayed together for her, trying to help their daughter. However, one day her migraine became too intense. It was nearly killing her, and she just wanted it to go away. Then it did. And she was on the floor underneath her bedroom in the same second.

After that, she had an entire week without getting a migraine. Her body had been trying to release her mutation and finally it had, she'd controlled it for the first time. A car backfire told her what she could really do. Instinctual, the loud sound frightened her and she phased through the door of her bedroom. Fascinated, she tested it, pushing her hand through and back.

When they were approached by a private school in Westchester New York, they were reluctant to let her go. She was just getting over the migraines, they feared for her. But Kitty knew she had to go, learn to control what was happening to her.

No matter how much she loves her life at Xavier's, she misses her family, her former life as well. Professor Xavier, understanding this, arranged for Kitty to resume her ballet classes in Westchester to have the touch of normalcy she needs. Kitty's trying to find the balance between who she was and who she's becoming.

Then she got a mysterious invitation in the mail and decided to go, clear her head. Why not? What could go wrong?
